AI at Stokesley Surgery - AccuRx Scribe

Stokesley Surgery is committed to providing high-quality care and making the best use of technology to improve your experience during appointments. One of the tools we may use in some consultations is Accurx Scribe.

What is Accurx Scribe?

Accurx Scribe is a secure digital tool that helps clinicians write medical notes during or after a consultation. It works by listening to the conversation between you and your clinician and creating a draft summary of the consultation, which your clinician then reviews and edits before saving it to your medical record.

This helps reduce the amount of time clinicians spend typing during appointments.

Why are we using it?

Using Accurx Scribe can help clinicians:

  • Spend more time looking at and listening to you, rather than typing into a computer
  • Create clear and accurate consultation notes
  • Reduce administrative workload so more time can be spent on patient care

Many NHS practices are beginning to use this type of technology to improve the experience of both patients and clinicians.

What happens during my appointment?

If your clinician plans to use Accurx Scribe:

  1. They will explain it to you first.
  2. They will ask for your consent before using it.
  3. The tool will listen to the consultation and create a draft set of notes.
  4. Your clinician will check and edit the notes before they are added to your medical record.

Your clinician remains fully responsible for your care and for the accuracy of your notes.

Is it safe and secure?

Yes. Accurx Scribe:

  • Meets NHS requirements for AI scribe technology
  • Uses secure systems designed for healthcare settings
  • Is registered with the UK medicines regulator (MHRA) as a Class I medical device through its underlying technology.

Your information continues to be handled in line with NHS data protection and confidentiality standards.

Does the technology make decisions about my care?

No. Accurx Scribe does not make clinical decisions and does not influence diagnosis or treatment. It simply helps create a written summary of the consultation for your clinician to review.

Do I have to agree to it?

No. Using Accurx Scribe is completely optional. If you would prefer not to have it used during your appointment, simply let your clinician know. Your care will not be affected in any way.
